A Watford Scout group has been able to purchase a range of new equipment for its members thanks to a generous donation by a leading local housebuilder.
Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Thames, which is based in Watford, has donated £1,000 to the 1st North Watford Scouts to fund a range of equipment, from left-handed scissors to camping equipment.
The Scouts have been also able to purchase modern lightweight tents, which allow them to carry the camping equipment during hikes and use them in competitions.
The donation was made as part of the Community Fund, which was designed to strengthen ties with the community surrounding the business. Each month the developer donates £1,000 to a local charity or organisation which improves the quality of life for those living in the area.
Simon Francis, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes, said, “It’s really important to us that we support causes in our local community as we are committed to offering valuable support to charities and organisations, as well as leaving a positive legacy.
“The 1st North Watford Scout Group is a great long-standing organisation in our local area so we were pleased we could support them with this donation.”
Lisa Knighton, Scout Leader at 1st North Watford Scout Group, said, “As a voluntary organisation we need donations to be able to continue and this donation has helped us with the basics as well as equipment for trips and outdoor activities so we’re very grateful.”
